Rocket Espresso History

Ready to revolutionise the espresso world after resigning from one of Italy's major espresso machine manufacturers in the early 1980's, Ennio Berti believed he could create a domestic espresso machine made entirely of commercial machine components. Teaming with Fredrich Berenbruch, the duo created Espresso Company Milano (ECM). In the late 1990's, ECM met New Zealanders Jeff Kennedy and Andrew Meo. Shortly thereafter, New Zealand was introduced to the E61 Rocket; a pioneering step in home espresso. In 2007, ECM decided to concentrate on commercial machines, and left Kennedy to focus on perfecting the household espresso machine. Rocket Espresso Milano was then formed. The current Rocket combines the history of Italian espresso engineering with passion provided by a couple of Kiwis.

Rocket manufacture a range of espresso coffee machines including:

Rocket R Nine One, Rocket R 60V, Rocket R 58, Rocket Evoluzione R, Rocket Type v, Rocket Appartamento, Rocket Porta Via, Rocket R 9, Rocket RE Doppia, Rocket RE A Timer, Rocket Boxer, Rocket Giotto, Rocket Cellini, Rocket Plus V2

All these machines can use a Rocket bottomless portafilter, a Rocket twin spout portafilter or a Rocket single spout portafilter. These portafilters can use a combination of a 7g single shot basket or a 14g double shot basket. Only the Rocket bottomless portafilter is capable of using a 21g triple shot basket.

How are our Rocket compatible portafilters made?

The head of our Rocket compatible portafilter is formed from solid brass. Brass is softened by heating prior to being pressed in to a portafilter mould. The resulting brass component is then machined to ensure the item has the correct shape and dimensions to fit a Rocket group. Holes in this brass portafilter head are drilled and tapped in order to accept the correct size spout and handle. The portafilter head is then sent off for chrome plating before being assembled with the correct ancillary components – single or twin spout, 7g or 14g basket, plastic or wooden handle.

What guarantee comes with our Rocket compatible portafilters?

We are confident that you will love our Rocket compatible portafilters whether they are a Rocket bottomless portafilter, a Rocket twin spout portafilter or a Rocket single spout portafilter. Even if you use our Rocket portafilters in a high use environment such as a coffee shop or café they are robust and hard wearing. If your Edesia Espress Rocket compatible portafilter develops a manufacturing defect within 1 year of purchase, we will gladly offer you a repair or a replacement free of change. Terms and conditions apply. You may be liable for the cost of returning the item to us. This offer does not affect your statutory rights.
